What does a parent’s happiness have to do with child development? Everything! The best way to prepare yourself for the awesome role of parenting is to adopt thoughts, beliefs and actions that align with your happiness. If your emotions are more on the negative end of the emotional spectrum, you will be a barrier to your child realizing their true development potential.
You may think that you can separate positive parenting from unhappiness but you simply can’t. You will inject more of your negative beliefs and thinking patterns on your child during each developmental stage and inhibit your child’s natural tendency to experience happy and joy.Too many of us go through each day feeling uninspired, irritable, frustrated, and flat out angry. We place others or external circumstances as the cause to our negativity and believe that our lives are meant to be hard and difficult. We may just find life as a repetitious boring experience with obligations and sacrifices. The common denominator to all of these experiences is that our beliefs are the cause of our emotions not the external people or circumstances. Children are born with the special ability to use creativity and imagination to brighten and bring excitement to their day. Without being taught, their natural instinct is to dream big and create a wonderful picture of life in their minds.
When a parent regains their ability to do the same, they start to pay less attention to the negativity in the external world and find better feelings, if only for the moment, when allowing their imagination to paint a landscape of their aim or yearning in life. The great news about raising kids is that you can go back in the world of a child’s mind and begin to exercise the art of imagination and creativity. If you look around your world, everything you see had started as imagination, which then became reality. Yourchildren already are born with an instinct for this. You once believed in the power of imagination also. When your beliefs begin to align with possibilities and passions in life, you will begin a much happier journey and will allow your child to remain on a joyous path, which starts at their birth.
Changing a negative belief system to a more positive one takes practice but is well worth you time and effort on the path to happiness. If you are looking for a guide to help you on this journey, you can find my book, Parenting with Soul in theirparenting book section.
